Job description

About the Family

A warm, high-performing Manhattan family is seeking an exceptionally proactive, systems-oriented House Manager to support the day-to-day operations of their growing household as they transition from apartment living into a large family home. The household includes two principals, three young children (all under 8), a live-in nanny, and a friendly Goldendoodle.

The family is moving from a three-bedroom apartment into an approximately 7,500 square foot, five-bedroom home, a significant jump in operational complexity. They are looking for someone who can create calm, structure, and consistency from the ground up during this transition.

This is not a traditional housekeeping role. The family wants a true operational partner: someone who naturally takes ownership, notices problems before they become stressors, and builds systems that reduce the mental load of running a busy home. The right person enjoys creating order out of chaos and supports high-functioning families with warmth, discretion, and initiative.

What You Will Focus On

Household Operations and Daily Flow

  • Oversee the daily functionality and organization of the home

  • Keep common spaces consistently reset and visually calm

  • Coordinate household routines and operational flow across multiple support staff

  • Handle light household administration and logistics

  • Receive deliveries, oversee packages, and follow through on household tasks

  • Manage trash and recycling schedules and stay aware of home maintenance needs

Organization and Systems (a top priority for this family)

  • Create and maintain sustainable systems for closets, pantry, kitchen equipment, toys, storage, and household supplies

  • Rotate seasonal and children's clothing and remove outgrown items

  • Maintain shoe organization and care

  • Build systems designed to stay working long-term, not one-time resets

Kitchen and Wellness Support

  • Keep the kitchen, pantry, and wellness areas fully stocked and organized

  • Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the family

  • Support lunch and dinner preparation and coordination

  • Maintain gym refresh systems (water, towels, supplies)

  • Create systems that reduce daily decision fatigue around meals and upkeep

Vendor and Property Coordination

  • Coordinate vendors, service providers, and maintenance appointments

  • Oversee cleaning schedules and help keep the home operationally supported during travel

  • Communicate proactively about household issues before they escalate

Move-In and Transition Support

  • Assist with move-related logistics, unpacking, and home setup

  • Establish organizational systems throughout the new property

  • Manage vendor access and deliveries during the transition

Family and Pet Support

  • Occasional school pickups and child-related support as needed

  • Dog walking and coordination for the family Goldendoodle

  • Collaborate respectfully alongside the existing live-in nanny

Job requirements

Preferred Experience

  • Prior House Manager or Household Manager experience strongly preferred

  • Experience supporting families in larger homes preferred

  • Familiarity with organization systems, household operations, and vendor coordination

  • Comfortable around children and pets

  • Valid driver's license preferred

  • Strong communication and follow-through

Schedule: Full-time, with flexibility required and heavier support around the move transition
