Job description

A father (age 80) and adult son are seeking a reliable, proactive Home Manager to help maintain their 6,000 sq ft, 4-bed / 4-bath lakefront home. The focus is on organization, weekly upkeep, and helping the home run smoothly with consistent routines. Cleaners currently come once per month; this role fills the weekly gap.

Responsibilities:

Home Organization & Systems

  • Reorganize key areas: kitchen, pantry, drawers, closets, storage rooms, and project rooms.

  • Create sustainable systems and labeling that prevent clutter from returning.

  • Maintain organization standards across all rooms and shared spaces.

  • Break large organization projects into weekly manageable steps.

Home Reset & Light Cleaning

  • Perform resets each visit: tidy rooms, return items to place, wipe down kitchen/bath surfaces.

  • Rotate light cleaning tasks (vacuuming, dusting, spot-cleaning, floor care).

  • Refresh kitchen surfaces and maintain a clean, pleasant-feeling home.

  • Observe and proactively address areas needing restocking, attention, or maintenance.

Laundry & Linens

  • Manage weekly laundry cycle (wash/dry/fold/put away).

  • Maintain towels, linens, and household textiles in good condition.

Food Prep & Healthy Routines

  • Support simple, healthy batch-prep (lentils/eggs lunches, berries/nuts, prepped containers).

  • Prepare ingredients so meals can be quickly assembled.

  • Keep fridge and pantry organized to support a healthy routine.

  • Shop for produce with attention to exact quality preferences (firm fruit, no wrinkled items, etc.).

Errands, Shopping & Inventory

  • Restock pantry items, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and household essentials.

  • Grocery shopping as needed (Whole Foods, BJ’s, local stores).

  • Manage small errands, pickups, and returns.

  • Maintain household inventory and keep track of upcoming needs.

Vendor Coordination & Home Maintenance

  • Track and confirm monthly cleaner visits.

  • Maintain directory of home vendors (painters, electricians, yard/landscaping, etc.).

  • Coordinate service appointments and home access when needed.

  • Track service history and contacts for easy reference.

Travel Support

  • Assist with pre- and post-travel resets for:

  • 2–3 business trips per quarter (3–5 days)

  • ~2 major personal trips (8–12 days)

  • ~2 weekend trips

  • Ensure home is tidy, stocked, and welcoming before/after travel.

General Household Operations

  • Identify and report any maintenance issues proactively.

  • Keep household systems, routines, and checklists organized.

  • Work independently and stay outcome-oriented with minimal oversight.

  • Maintain full discretion, trustworthiness, and professionalism.

Job requirements

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong organizer who genuinely enjoys creating order.

  • Valid driver’s license + reliable transportation.

  • Trustworthy, proactive, and detail-oriented.

  • Health-minded and comfortable with simple meal prep.

  • Comfortable working solo in a large home.

  • Experience in housekeeping, caregiving, organizing, or home management preferred.
