Family Cook/ House Assist - Merin, CA

  • On-site
    • Kentfield, California, United States
  • $35 - $40

Built for someone who’s spent years running a household professionally or as a parent and takes real pride in keeping a home calm, organized, and running smoothly.

Job description

A warm, active family in Kentfield is looking for a skilled cook to take ownership of their kitchen. This is a well-established, professionally staffed household with young children, and the family is ready to hand meal planning and food prep over to someone who can truly run with it. Their goal is simple: healthy, ready-to-eat meals on the table, an organized kitchen, and one less thing on their plate.

This is a food-first role. It is not a nanny position and not a deep-cleaning role. The right person will feel confident owning the kitchen end to end, from planning and cooking to keeping the fridge and pantry stocked and orderly.

Job requirements

HOUSEHOLD SNAPSHOT

  • Two working parents, two young children (ages 4 and 2)

  • Large, beautifully maintained home in Kentfield, CA

  • Two family dogs (one is shy with new people and requires gentle, careful introductions)

  • A full support team already in place: full-time and part-time nannies, a cleaning crew, a dog nanny, landscapers, and other regular vendors

  • A collaborative household where staff coordinate respectfully with one another

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Cooking & Kitchen Ownership

  • Plan and prepare healthy, whole-food-focused meals for both children and adults, including ready-to-eat dinners

  • Prepare nutritious snacks and smoothies that support the parents' wellness goals

  • Keep the kitchen clean, reset, and fully functional after cooking

  • Manage the fridge and pantry, clearing out anything expired and keeping surfaces clutter-free

  • Make sure the family, especially the kids, always has good food on hand

Grocery & Pantry Management

  • Take full ownership of restocking food and household kitchen supplies

  • Track inventory and order proactively so nothing runs out

  • Maintain a simple system or preferred product list to keep shopping consistent

Light Household Support

  • Handle light daily tidying in shared spaces like the kitchen, entryway, and mudroom

  • Make beds in a simple, tidy way

  • Break down packages and manage household recycling/trash

  • Help maintain the organizational systems the family already has in place

Light Logistics (occasional)

  • Assist with package management and simple vendor coordination when asked

  • Communicate smoothly with the household's existing staff

  • Follow clear safety protocols when vendors are on site, including keeping the dogs safely separated

SCHEDULE

  • Weekdays, approximately 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

  • Arrival before 12:30 PM is preferred; the household asks that arrivals be avoided between 12:30 and 3:30 PM

  • A Sunday evening shift is welcomed but not required

  • Evening hours after 6:00 PM are not needed

WHAT THE FAMILY IS LOOKING FOR

  • A confident home cook with real experience preparing healthy family meals

  • Someone comfortable feeding both kids and adults with an eye toward whole foods

  • A person who can run kitchen systems independently, without needing much direction

  • Comfort and experience working alongside other household staff

  • Ease around young children and dogs

  • A professional, polished presence with a warm, easygoing manner

  • Someone reliable and proactive who genuinely makes the household run more smoothly
